Singles, also known as Alpha Kicks, are great power
move lessons for any beginner breakdancer. A breaker
will start in a squat position and then whip his body
back and kick and extend one leg. He will then bend
his arms into the “pocket” and then release the
momentum of the swing and lunge forward back into the
squat position. Mastery of this movement helps build
strength and coordination for more difficult
breakdance moves.
After learning Singles, a B-boy will usually move onto
mastering Doubles. Other variations of Singles are:
- Double
- Crackerjacks
- Arched-back Singles
